Located at the Department's central office in Des Moines, the Aids and Devices Store sells adapted items useful to persons who are blind or visually impaired. White canes, Braille and talking watches and clocks, Braille-writing equipment, magnifiers, measuring devices, Braille and large-print playing cards, games, cooking and sewing aids, and other items are available for sale.
The Aids & Devices store is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. The store is closed on official state holidays.

Most products will come with a manufacturer's warranty or registration form and/or conditions and instructions for return or repair, please follow the instructions. If you have sent the warranty registration form to the manufacturer, do not return the product to us, instead you will need to return it to the manufacturer.
Before returning an item to the Department, please contact Aids and Devices via our WATS number 1-800-362-2587 or our regular number 515-281-1357 regarding the reason for the return.
Any item to be returned must be in resalable condition,
complete with instructions, original box or container and accompanied by the
packing invoice. Claims must be made within 30 days of our invoice date. We will
not accept returns of medical items (talking thermometer, count-a-dose, etc.).
