Volunteer Opportunities

A network of volunteers in Iowa and across the country contribute thousands of hours of work each year in support of the Department's mission. Blind consumers participate on advisory committees and serve as peer mentors to other blind persons in their communities. Service organizations donate time, money, and expertise to enhance the Department's programs. Lions Clubs are generous in their support, providing free Bibles and other sacred texts in alternative media to Library borrowers. Members of the Telephone Pioneers inspect and repair cassette tape machines, ensuring a supply of equipment for the thousands who use the Library's services. The Department relies on volunteers for a variety of tasks:
