Transition Programs

The Iowa Department for the Blind is the state agency responsible for providing services to Iowans who are blind or severely visually impaired.  Our transition programs are designed to assist blind youth in developing the independence they require to take charge of their own lives.  Through these programs, blind youth get the best training opportunities possible to learn the blindness skills and develop the self-confidence they will need, as adults, to live independently and work competitively.  Transition Programs include weekend retreats and summer programs.
